Modern cross sectional imaging of the head
Neurological diagnostics have been revolutionised by CT and MRI cross-sectional diagnostic imaging. Particularly MRI enables high-resolution, three-dimensional imaging of the brain and nerves in order to identify the causes of neurological symptoms such as inflammation, infarction, scars or masses. Vascular dilation (aneurysms) and constriction (stenoses) can also be diagnosed by MR angiography with low risk often before the development of neurological symptoms.
